Meet the Together SA Board Members

Together SA is governed by a Board.  The Board is constituted under the (SA) Associations Incorporation Act and subject to Australian law for legal and financial matters.

The inaugural Board was established in October 2014 by a selection committee of a Steering Group formed by the initial founding partners.  The Board met for the first time in late 2014.

Board members are drawn from founding partners as well as two independent appointments.

Simon Schrapel – Chair
Simon is CEO of Uniting Communities.  Simon has been Chair of Together SA Board since July 2017.
Simon is the Chief Executive of Uniting Communities. Originally trained in Social Work, Simon has spent more than 30 years in social services practice, management and policy development and advocacy in both the Government and not-for-profit sectors in Australia, the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.
Simon joined Uniting Communities as Chief Executive in mid-2010 with a commitment to build on the organisation’s history and reputation as a progressive agency for social change, reconciliation and fostering compassionate and resilient communities.  In 2017, Simon was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to the community, particularly to children and families through social welfare organisations, programs and initiatives.
Peter Sandeman – Deputy Chair
Peter is currently the CEO AnglicareSA, Prof Fellow Flinders Uni, Deacon of the Dioceses of Adelaide, The Murray and Willochra.  He has recently been appointed Co-chair of The Adelaide Zero Project.
Peter has a long history working for social and economic development in South Australia having been variously the Director of Disability Services, Director of Primary Health, the inaug  ral Director of the Office of the North and established Case Management SA for the Department of Trade and Economic Development.
Anne McCutcheon – Treasurer
Anne’s career was in community development and then in business development and consulting. She continues facilitating and mentoring in management and entrepreneurship education programs and pursues interests in organisational development, philanthropy and social justice.  Anne is a Board Member for founding partner Wyatt Trust and a Business SA Mentor.
Early on, Anne worked in community development in local government. This transitioned to a career in business and economic development. She became an experienced management consultant, management & business trainer/educator and business advisory professional. Projects and contracts have included commercial, not for profit and public sector work environments and she currently holds board positions in not for profit organisations focused on small business development, philanthropy and social change. In addition, Anne has taught in the tertiary sector over a number of years, facilitating in the MBA course at UniSA and more latterly at AIM Business School and has developed course work for the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Adelaide and assisted with workshops in a number of entrepreneurial development programs as well as mentoring at SA Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme.
Kylie Fergusen
Kylie has been a social researcher, trainer, charity operator, strategic planner, community centre manager, engagement specialist, author and business entrepreneur!  As an academic Kylie immersed herself in social planning education and research for 15 years, including studies in international development at Oxford, UK on a scholarship.  Kylie has been engaged by AusAID in Indonesia, supporting communities after the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, and in the Philippines, Cambodia and Fiji.  She has worked as a private consultant for 15 years as an engagement specialist, and for State Government where she managed the authorship of a volume of the State Planning Strategy.
Most recently, Kylie managed 5 community centres for local government, youth programmes, community events and public art initiatives.  She is currently the CEO of Community Centres SA.  She is also a crisis support volunteer with Lifeline.  Having been awarded Fellow with the Planning Institute for Australia and received a range of awards for her work in social planning and engagement, Kylie has a deep commitment to social justice and is passionate about facilitating meaningful relationships between people and the places that they live, work, recreate and connect-up in.
Evelyn O’Loughlin
Currently CEO of Volunteering SA & NT, one of South Australia’s largest not-for-profit peak bodies, leading the volunteering sector across two Australian jurisdictions; South Australia and the Northern Territory.  Evelyn’s experience in senior and executive management roles both in South Australia and in Europe spans 22 years.  She holds a Bachelor of Education degree and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Evelyn is a respected leader with over 25 years’ executive experience across corporate, not-for-profit and government sectors.
A passion for community and culture has led Evelyn to the not-for-profit sector after a career spanning many sectors and industries, including working overseas in the United Kingdom and Greece. Evelyn’s current Board and governance appointments include Premier’s Council for Women, Volunteering Strategy for South Australia, Together SA, Flinders University Business School Advisory Board and international development organisation, Motivation Australia. Between 2010-2013 Evelyn was the only South Australian appointed to the Federal Government’s 13 member Not-for-Profit Sector Reform Council.
Fiona Kelly
Fiona Kelly has worked at a senior level in government, community services and corporate sectors for over 27 years. Her role in government and community services encompass direct service delivery, management, policy and planning and system reform. She is a Clinical Psychologist by profession and still undertakes part-time practice.
Fiona’s area of interest is evidence based practice and methodologies to support better outcomes for individuals in need, particularly those with complex and challenging problems. She is strongly committed to new ways of working and shifting the dominant paradigms concerning how community services approach their business and go about identifying and responding to community need.
Philomena Taylor
Philomena has worked in the community/social development profession since 1982, with a particular emphasis on social justice and communities that face significant challenges. Philomena has been Director Community Relations with the City of Onkaparinga for five years.
Prior to this Philomena worked for a range of community managed organisations, in the UK and Australia, and is passionate about the joys and challenges of working as a professional within community governance structures to improve quality of life for those who face social inequities.
Richard Pagliaro
Richard brings experience in the for-profit and Not-For-Profit worlds to Together SA providing head and heart thinking in the delivery of practical, cost-effective, measurable and long term solutions. Richard is a Board Member and former CEO of Foodbank SA.
Richard was Together SA’s inaugural Chair.
